March 17, St. Patrick's Day is a day that I'm not ready to forget!
It starts early, very early, when I got up to go to class at 10:30 and I see students drinking beer in front of the university, they are all dressed all in green and some are already drunk! We do not lie to me, the festival starts early for St. Patrick's Day!
There are several options for celebrating St Patrick, go to a party in a house, go into town and go around the bars, go to one of Irish bars in London and not to move or just hanging around the streets of London very busy that day! I chose to go around the bars, taking a ticket to the "pub crawl" (a Barathon French) organized by the university! The pub crawl starts at 15 pm and ended at 2:30 hours the bars close in Canada. (And it really sucks that it closes too early, since I am here not once did I not get the impression you leave when the party was in full swing!)
Nanako, including Katy was the birthday that day (I do not know if I have already spoken on this blog but a daughter in 4th year Nanako already knew before this year because she went to Japan last year in exchange is the most fun girl I know, after my sister of course!) my roommate Andrew, Hemma (an exchange student from India) and I are off to the pub crawl at 16h ...
... It all starts in the bus, filled with green individuals beer in hand, a really fun atmosphere (much less fun when this guy in a bathrobe and at first brake it falls on him and destroyed Nanako arm!) everyone is talking about a very carnival atmosphere of Dunkirk for those who know! Arrived in town, I do not recognize the city center, all the bars are decorated entirely in green, there are people everywhere, the streets full, an incredible party atmosphere (which immediately makes me think that Anthony would love to be in my place!)
the bus ...
First bar: We exchange our tickets came against a tee shirt that will be our pass for the rest of the day and night! At the same time it gives you tee shirts, they give you scissors to customize and pens to write on it! Customization made, it's time to taste the green beer, especially for the occasion! In fact it tastes the same as usual except that it adds a kind of vile green dye, the kind of thing that you destroyed the liver and makes you regret being alive the next day ...
In the first bar, there is a patio, it was 16 degrees that day which allowed us to enjoy the atmosphere outside ... One begins to be written on the T-shirt I find myself with a fetus drawn on the belly (yes Nanako has a very delicate way to tell me that I'll have to lose weight ...) and my revenge by writing in his back "Hello, my name is Nanako I'm brilliant but I have no friends, please be mine" The poor have had many proposals not always friendly because of it!
The famous green beer ...
On the patio of the first bar
Katy and Hemma
Train to draw on the tee shirt Andrew (I also Hit me writing in French in his back!)
With Holly, cute girl all met that day!
Second bar: you spend 30 minutes queuing to get in (while our tee shirts should allow us to return immediately) but no matter because without it we would not have seen the launch of a bet between two guys in front of us, "Hey, I bet you do not dare you ride naked on the road!" "Oh yeah, OK!" And three seconds later, here he has hair now roll over the road! Her boyfriend became so enthusiastic that he began to do the same thing and in their frenzy they caused a dozen other guys! No luck, it worked moderately laugh police, who boarded!
Third bar: tired of waiting, so we skip the second step and direct the third bar, the atmosphere rises to a crescendo, it's a bit unrealistic to dance and drink to 18H and see if such an atmosphere early!! We only had to stay an hour in the bar and I think we stayed 2:30 so the atmosphere was great and because we met a group of university students really cool and we came across people that Nanako and I had met at the party organized by the university in September to celebrate six months before St. Patrick, nice coincidence !
Behold the Canadian style!
Fourth and last bar: 20h, the streets are much quieter, it must be said that people have started drinking at 9 am for the most part so most are either sick or went home to sleep! We are heading into the last bar Taphouse (for those who know either lol Sarah Eliot THE PLACE TO BE in London!)! Taphouse has fallen short of our expectations and even better! The world, glass, music, the bartender who loves Japanese Nanako and offers her glasses (she and her French girlfriend too!) People are crazy and some begin to pile into the bar .. . The atmosphere is crazy, but we feel it is on the verge of switching to the kind of electric atmosphere where people fought and vomit everywhere .... Katy is on the verge of switching to this kind of atmosphere, Nanako and I decided to bring her back on campus! Hemma abandoned us for the 3rd bar, Andrew decides to stay when, leaving the last club, we meet a group of students from Huron! Katy Once in his pajamas and into bed, Nanako and I go around the campus which was actually quite deserted and all the lights were extinguished homes! Apparently it's every year the same thing, people are in residence for most first years who are 19 (legal drinking age in Canada) during this year they are very (too) excited to celebrate St. Patrick's as it should and that is coated with 20hours!
I found the glasses in the club but I've lost 10 minutes later!
My roommates stayed in our house organized a small party with a more relaxed but still green and pleasant !!!!!
An evening that begins at 15:30 and ends at 3 hours, it takes about two days without calling (I assure you they put the dye in beer attacks the liver!)
One joys of St. Patrick: Discovering the next day what is written on his T shirt, for my part I found a beer, a vive la France, a fetus, a "faustine goal is a bitch I love her" (Nanako) and other "faustine She Is is cool to French so excuse her" and other incomprehensible stuff such as "annoying night" which means roughly night sucks, I found it on the shoulder of my shirt and I always wonder who wrote it!! Otherwise I also found MANIDAH written on my shirt and I had a flash the next day remembering that this was anything other than the initials of Matthew, Anthony, Natasha, Ines, David Anast and Henry! !
A great day / evening, a great Canadian experience that will leave its mark! And I hope that next year in France, we celebrate St. Patrick's in an even crazier!
