Ribbon Wish Bracelets

this article has neither head nor tail

A glimpse of my Canadian daily through some anecdotes:

- Anecdote number 1 or how to pass a lingering in front of 50 Canadian.

Course of History: Ten Days That Shook the World. We were studying at that time the Chinese invasion in Tibet, the teacher explains that the Chinese claimed to respect Tibetan culture but at the same time, they prohibit certain customs which the "sky burial". Explanation: According to Tibetan tradition, when a man dies, his soul leaves his body, the body is no longer important. The human body is cut into pieces and thrown to the vultures. But beware, there is a real ceremony around it all, with Tibetan chants etc! So far, aside from a profound collective disgust expressed, nothing shocking. So I was taking notes, and I have a short delay between when I write and when I understand what the teacher is talking, so I have not heard the teacher said he would show us a video. I look up and there what I see: vultures eating human limbs. Imagine the amazement I screamed! But then yelled, I expected at all, and I look up on the big screen, zoom on the vultures. Already a vulture video alone it would have made me super scared, but then there ! You can see yourself on youtube, it's pretty scary!!
short, some students even came to see me at the end asking if I was okay, me, poor French retarded / traumatized!

- Anecdote # 2 or how to take its courage in both hands and make its first sentence in English before an entire class. Students participate

lot going on here, oral participation account for about 15% of the final grade and my history course Canada is 25%. We have "reading", where the teacher is just talking, and then we also have sessions in smaller groups. In the first tutorial in Canadian history, we were 11 and 10 have spoken except me. I refuse to stay silent the rest of the year, I arrived during the following week full of good will to speak. It's not as easy as you might think, English is hesitant (especially before a "big" meeting) and Canadian history still has a lot of secrets from me! Never mind, I start by summarizing one of the first articles we had read. Impressions is as difficult as I thought, time stops, everyone stares at me (oh it takes an accent) I see very few small mocking smiles! I do not blame them, I said nothing in their place, I would not have done the same thing! And yet I do not disassemble and continues the summary! The teacher looks puzzled and strangely he approached my table as if to hear me (which is not very clever for a teacher I think) but hey there it is, the first sentence is launched. The beginning of a long series ... I hope!

Anecdote No. 3, or how a teacher told me that he hates the French Socialists before realizing that I am exactly what he just described.

- Course on the Canadian government. A first class assignment, the question is " do you think it is better to live in Canada or the U.S.? "Already I put 10 minutes to get over this question of shit (Scuse the expression!) but frankly I see no merit in this issue packed subjectivity! short, at the end of the course I am the last (the fault of the 10 minutes of dismay surely!) So I give my copy to the teacher saying that I am an international student and this is my first duty and Therefore spelling that my English is not perfect! He replied "as long as you're not from Quebec!" "no I'm not from Quebec, but what do you have against them?" They are like the French, but worse! "So there, little moment of hesitation and he outbid" well yes you see, the French, the air above what! "So there I told him that I am French and I find it quite disappointing generalization, he laughs a little uncomfortable (and told me he thought I was Swedish not the first time I said it, strange!) and said "as long as you're not a socialist! "Here we go again ..." All that to say that if I have 0% (5%) I know why!
Conclusion: What a big jerk!

Finally: we are Thursday, October 15 and it's snowing in London. And guess what: this is the first time since something like 50 years it snows as early Lucky me ....!!!!!
(not true it's great, it's too good we play like children !!!!!)

What Is No Adenopathy Mean

Toronto !!!!!

lot of delays, it will take me an article a bit confusing to tell anecdotes in bulk on my daily life here! In the meantime, let me tell you about my weekend in Toronto!

A weekend longer than others, today is Monday and we are Thanksgiving in Canada since 1957, the Parliament of Canada has decided it, Thanksgiving will be celebrated the second Monday of October every year. It is therefore expected to be a day when we give thanks to God for everything good that happens to the Canadian people. It is an excuse to eat like pigs, a huge turkey, pumpkin soup and more!
With Sarah, Chloe and Bérangère (a friend from Montreal to them) we decided instead to play the tourist for the weekend towards Toronto, the capital of Ontario.

Arrival in Toronto after two hours by bus Thursday night, I quickly found Chloe Sarah and Berangere arriving at the same bus terminal. 5 minutes to adapt to French, it's been awfully weird to talk to "real" people, not the phone or Internet. But soon we forget the English, French natural change their spots! You take a cab to our hostel. 1 st thing the taxi "a capitalist bastard" to quote Chloe refuses to let us go up to 4, it finds itself having to take two taxis, short! Arrived at the hostel, rather cute, the guy pretty cool (despite his strange habit of repeating my name in a rather bizarre and scary ...) great room, bathroom for us, even a small terrace (unexploited saw the cold but good!)
Hungry, we start looking for a restaurant in the corner, you see a pimp do we stand (we do succumb the second evening we head ...!) so commonplace in a restaurant, a chain which is the chicken! A meal without incident until Bérangère jump and say "A mouse !!!!!" While there, we rebuild his meal in the head and say we just eat in a restaurant with a mouse, it is not proud! We stand and we are going, it still decides to tell the waitress, I'll take care of "We just wanted To Let You Know That We saw a mouse in your restaurant and there, rather unexpected reaction: laughter from the waitress and cooks behind, and now she asks us "are you scared?" No, not bin like a mouse in a restaurant it makes sense! BIZARRE!

The next day, after a small crash recovery towards the center of downtown Toronto, umbrellas in hand, a mediocre time, towards the center of Eaton shopping, but disappointment, everyone was completely reasonable!
It still goes to the discovery of the city: University Avenue, Parliament of Ontario University of Toronto (very beautiful old campus as you can see from the photos)

Parliament of Ontario

Little Time Square in Toronto

University of Toronto:

Saturday, heading to Niagara Falls, and yes again! The girls were in the corner was an opportunity for them to see, and frankly, we do not get tired! I've seen in quite a different angle, sunny this time, inevitably less dramatic, but much more beautiful! The cruise allows us to approach even closer than last time because the weather is much warmer, we see lots of rainbows in the sky! You can see yourself in the photos is very different from last time! The girls are cute, enraptured by the falls, and so cute in their blue capes! I try to play the guide, but I always tell the same stories "but tell me girls, is that you knew that the U.S. has built a bridge to see the Horseshoe Falls on their side??" Yes they know I've said 3 times already! Not yet elected Guide year ... it will come!

Sunday, an NBA game, in fact, the second for me, I saw one last Tuesday in London, this time it ' The Toronto Raptors are Wizzards vs. Washington in the large downtown Toronto, just as impressive and so North American songs, national hymns, dancers, games at half time: it is like 4 kids! ! Pretty funny moment: people are putting a little atmosphere in the stands, asking us to sing "let's go let's go Raptors" "defense, defense, defense" and throw T-shirt to the crowd madness! Except this day, the crowd was not really mad, so when the two girls come to our bench, we get up every 4 and scream like crazy, so the blonde (that Chloe had just insulted it anyway!) and came close to our row and we threw the shirt !!!!! And I caught a real feat, I hardly know I catch a ball when I run it! Class too, they sacrifice all the T-shirt for a friend of sarah fan of basketball in France (which will, therefore, that it was a free gift ah ah) Match Result: victory of Toronto: 100 / 93!!

Tee collectively won

After the game, towards the CN Tower, the tallest building ever built by man and part of 7 wonders of the modern world 's raising to 533 meters. When you reach the top, the sun sets, the view is magnificent, the photos do not transcribe well because of the windows (they could have better wash anyway!) The highest observation point is 447 meters, it was awfully cold, but it was really impressive!

Top view:

Today, the weather was unusually cold, the temperature of a winter home, except that one is Oct. 12 anyway, it makes a little fear for the future, we therefore have for Thanksgiving brunch: I still not hungry since!

And we went from restaurant to cafe to keep warm and to discuss again and again! Besides some beautiful expressions Quebec: "It's not so bad" it was fun ben "the famous" oh yeah eh "(imagine an accent of Bérangère)" c'te shame " (Yes I maintain that Sarah is not France that thing) And they are awfully cute with all their foibles Quebec!
A great weekend, heading to Montreal in two weeks for a new weekend breakfast is probably the phrase of the year but "3A, amazing year!"

Still plenty to tell you, an article in the week to do a little update on everything ... Finally, if I survived the cold Canadian ...
